Quality documentation fails not because crews do not care, but because doing it properly is slower than doing it badly. We think that is a product problem. Thora exists to make the fastest way to record an inspection also the most defensible one.
From scattered evidence to a single record
Construction quality still runs on photos in camera rolls, checklists on paper, punch lists in spreadsheets, and decisions in group chats. Each of those tools is flexible and fast on its own. Together they produce a record with holes in it.
The holes only matter later — when a defect is missed, when a sub says an item was fixed and the GC says it was not, when a closeout pack has to be assembled the week before handover, or when a dispute turns on who observed what and when. At that point teams spend days rebuilding a history that should have been captured the moment the work was inspected.
We started Thora to close that gap for the firms that feel it most: small and mid-size general and specialty contractors with inspection-heavy scopes and no appetite for enterprise software. Rather than digitising the paperwork, we built the workflow around the two things that decide whether a record survives scrutiny — evidence captured at the point of work, and every failure carried through to a verified fix.
We are early and deliberately so. Thora is being shaped alongside pilot contractors on live projects, because the details that make field software work are not the ones you can guess from an office.

Decisions get made against what a walk-through actually looks like — wet, dusty, signal-poor, and in a hurry. If it does not work there, it does not ship.
Focused, not comprehensive
We are not trying to replace a full construction management platform. We do quality records, defect tracking, inspection evidence, and closeout proof, and we do them properly.
Simple enough to actually adopt
The contractors we build for do not have IT departments. Setup has to be light, and the field has to understand the app without a training course.
